Budget after a layoff: what did you cut first?

I have 10 months of savings and I am trying to stretch them after being let go as a call-centre agent. Rent and the car are the biggest costs. What did you cut first?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.

I called the landlord and the card company early. Both offered a short payment plan, which I did not expect.
