Budget after a layoff: what did you cut first?

We are a household of 18 and need to cut costs quickly. Any experience at all would help. I am nervous about the credit card minimums. What helped the most?

Subscriptions first, then the phone plan. I saved about $1200 a year just by switching to a cheaper plan.

Ask your utility about hardship programmes. Mine knocked a bit off my bill for several months.
