Budget after a layoff: what did you cut first?

I have 2 months of savings and I am trying to stretch them after being let go as an event coordinator. There are 9 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. Rent and the car are the biggest costs. What helped the most?

Subscriptions first, then the phone plan. I saved about $550 a year just by switching to a cheaper plan.

Ask your utility about hardship programmes. Mine knocked a bit off my bill for several months.
