Budget after a layoff: what did you cut first? - any advice?

We are a household of 4 and need to cut costs quickly. I am in Albuquerque, in case local advice matters. I am nervous about the credit card minimums. What helped the most?

I called the landlord and the card company early. Both offered a short payment plan, which I did not expect.

Subscriptions first, then the phone plan. I saved about $1050 a year just by switching to a cheaper plan.
