Budget after a layoff: what did you cut first? - any advice?

I have 4 months of savings and I am trying to stretch them after being let go as a customer-service rep. Any experience at all would help. Rent and the car are the biggest costs. Did any lender work with you?

I called the landlord and the card company early. Both offered a short payment plan, which I did not expect.
