Budget after a layoff: what did you cut first? - any advice?

We are a household of 11 and need to cut costs quickly. I do not usually post, so bear with me. Rent and the car are the biggest costs. Did any lender work with you?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It saved me later.
