Budget after a layoff: what did you cut first?

I have 8 months of savings and I am trying to stretch them after being let go as an accountant. Thank you in advance. Rent and the car are the biggest costs. What helped the most?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It saved me later.
