Budget after a layoff: what did you cut first?

I have 11 months of savings and I am trying to stretch them after being let go as an administrative assistant. I have read a lot of threads here and could not find my exact situation. Rent and the car are the biggest costs.

Ask your utility about hardship programmes. Mine knocked a bit off my bill for several months.
