Budget after a layoff: what did you cut first?

I have 13 months of savings and I am trying to stretch them after being let go as a mechanic. I am in Boise, in case local advice matters. Rent and the car are the biggest costs. What helped the most?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 13 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
