Budget after a layoff: what did you cut first?

We are a household of 17 and need to cut costs quickly. It has been weighing on me all week. Rent and the car are the biggest costs.

Subscriptions first, then the phone plan. I saved about $200 a year just by switching to a cheaper plan.

I called the landlord and the card company early. Both offered a short payment plan, which I did not expect.
