Budget after a layoff: what did you cut first?

I have 14 months of savings and I am trying to stretch them after being let go as an accounts payable clerk. Rent and the car are the biggest costs. What helped the most?

Ask your utility about hardship programmes. Mine knocked a bit off my bill for several months.
