Benefits end date after a layoff - what worked for you?

I am not sure what date my benefits stop after being let go as a web developer. There are 8 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. I have an appointment next week. What should I do about appointments?

Keep a copy of any coverage confirmation in case of later disputes.

Ask HR to confirm the exact date in writing. I also called the insurance company to double-check.
