Benefits end date after a layoff - what worked for you?

HR said my health plan continues for a bit and I do not understand how. I am in Honolulu, in case local advice matters. I have an appointment next week. What should I do about appointments?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 9 months ago, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
