Benefits end date after a layoff - what worked for you?

HR said my health plan continues for a bit and I do not understand how. I have read a lot of threads here and could not find my exact situation. I have an appointment next week. What should I do about appointments?

Dental and vision sometimes end on a different date from medical. Mine did.

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It saved me later.
