Benefits are ending soon and I have no offer - first time posting

My unemployment benefits end in 26 weeks and I have not found work as a machine operator. I am in Chicago, in case local advice matters. I wonder about extended programmes or help from local agencies. Did you find short-term work?

Food pantries and community kitchens helped us stretch the budget. No shame in using them.

Ask your state agency about any extended programmes. Mine did not advertise them, but they existed.
