Word-of-mouth leads in Tampa - what worked for you?

I asked around at a community meeting and got three leads. I have read a lot of threads here and could not find my exact situation. They like a brief email with a résumé. Does anyone have similar leads?

Small employers often hire on recommendation. Ask neighbours, former co-workers and your library.

Keep a list of who you contacted and when. It makes follow-ups easy.
