Word-of-mouth leads in Salt Lake City (update)

A friend who works at a local manufacturer says there are openings not advertised online. There are 10 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. They like a brief email with a résumé. Does anyone have similar leads?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 6 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
