Word-of-mouth leads in Salt Lake City after 6 years as a web developer

Two small Salt Lake City employers told me they are hiring but have not posted yet. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. They prefer people who can start within a couple of weeks. Should I visit in person?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 13 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.

A short email with two sentences about what you can do and your résumé attached worked for me. I followed up after a week.
