Word-of-mouth leads in Portland - any advice?

I asked around at a community meeting and got three leads. I do not usually post, so bear with me. They like a brief email with a résumé.

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.

Visiting in person worked for a trades job. For office jobs, email was better.
