Word-of-mouth leads in Louisville - first time posting

Two small Louisville employers told me they are hiring but have not posted yet. I am in Louisville, in case local advice matters. One is a print shop, one is an accounting firm and one is a clinic. What do you write in a cold email?

Keep a list of who you contacted and when. It makes follow-ups easy.
