Word-of-mouth leads in Kansas City - 8 weeks in

Two small Kansas City employers told me they are hiring but have not posted yet. I am in Kansas City, in case local advice matters. One is a print shop, one is an accounting firm and one is a clinic. Does anyone have similar leads?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
