Word-of-mouth leads in Austin

A friend who works at a local manufacturer says there are openings not advertised online. I worked as a bank teller before this. They prefer people who can start within a couple of weeks. Should I visit in person?

A short email with two sentences about what you can do and your résumé attached worked for me. I followed up after a week.

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 13 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
