Warehouse hiring event in San Diego this week - what worked for you?

A distribution centre near San Diego is holding hiring sessions this week for packers, pickers and forklift operators. This is my first time dealing with any of this. I went for a tour and the place was clean and organised. What are the shifts like?

Night shifts often pay a premium, but check the transport options first. The buses thin out late.
