Union apprenticeship sign-ups near Detroit (update)

The training centre near Detroit opened applications for apprenticeships in electrical and welding trades. I have read a lot of threads here and could not find my exact situation. Applications close in 26 weeks. What do you wish you had known?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
