Trades apprenticeship applications open in Pittsburgh - 4 weeks in

The training centre near Pittsburgh opened applications for apprenticeships in electrical and welding trades. I have read a lot of threads here and could not find my exact situation. Applications close in 4 weeks. What do you wish you had known?

The aptitude test was mostly maths and reading a diagram. Free practice tests online were enough for me.

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
