Temp-to-hire openings around Chicago, school bus driver here

A retailer and two warehouses near Chicago are hiring seasonal staff. I am in Chicago, in case local advice matters. I would like to avoid a gap in my résumé. Which employers treat seasonal workers well?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
