Temp-to-hire openings around Boston - what worked for you?

A retailer and two warehouses near Boston are hiring seasonal staff. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. The pay is hourly with weekly deposits. Has anyone been converted to permanent?

I was converted after one season because I showed up every day and volunteered for extra shifts. Managers remember that.
