Temp-to-hire openings around Birmingham - what worked for you?

I am looking at seasonal jobs around Birmingham that might lead to something longer. I worked as an office manager before this. The pay is hourly with weekly deposits. Which employers treat seasonal workers well?

I was converted after one season because I showed up every day and volunteered for extra shifts. Managers remember that.
