Small employers hiring around Spokane - any advice?

A friend who works at a local manufacturer says there are openings not advertised online. I worked as a welding apprentice before this. They like a brief email with a résumé. Does anyone have similar leads?

Small employers often hire on recommendation. Ask neighbours, former co-workers and your library.
