Small employers hiring around Oklahoma City - any advice?

Two small Oklahoma City employers told me they are hiring but have not posted yet. They prefer people who can start within a couple of weeks. Should I visit in person?

Keep a list of who you contacted and when. It makes follow-ups easy.
