Small employers hiring around Buffalo - any advice?

Two small Buffalo employers told me they are hiring but have not posted yet. They prefer people who can start within a couple of weeks. Should I visit in person?

Small employers often hire on recommendation. Ask neighbours, former co-workers and your library.

Keep a list of who you contacted and when. It makes follow-ups easy.
