Small employers hiring around Boston (Boston)

Two small Boston employers told me they are hiring but have not posted yet. This is my first time dealing with any of this. They prefer people who can start within a couple of weeks. Should I visit in person?

Small employers often hire on recommendation. Ask neighbours, former co-workers and your library.

Visiting in person worked for a trades job. For office jobs, email was better.
