Second-chance employers near Chicago - any advice?

I found a second-chance hiring list from a workforce board. I am in Chicago, in case local advice matters. They still run a background check later but consider it case by case. Any other leads?

Ask the workforce centre about bonding programmes. They sometimes help employers feel comfortable.
