Seasonal jobs that might turn permanent - what worked for you?

I am looking at seasonal jobs around Kansas City that might lead to something longer. Hours ramp up in the coming weeks. Which employers treat seasonal workers well?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
