Seasonal jobs that might turn permanent - what worked for you?

A retailer and two warehouses near Dallas are hiring seasonal staff. There are 8 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. The pay is hourly with weekly deposits. Which employers treat seasonal workers well?

Apply to several. Start dates and schedules change quickly and having options helps.

I was converted after one season because I showed up every day and volunteered for extra shifts. Managers remember that.
