Seasonal jobs that might turn permanent after 5 years as a bookkeeper

I am looking at seasonal jobs around Birmingham that might lead to something longer. This is my first time dealing with any of this. I would like to avoid a gap in my résumé. Has anyone been converted to permanent?

Apply to several. Start dates and schedules change quickly and having options helps.
