Seasonal hiring: what is paying well this year? (update)

A retailer and two warehouses near Raleigh are hiring seasonal staff. I would like to avoid a gap in my résumé. Which employers treat seasonal workers well?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.

I was converted after one season because I showed up every day and volunteered for extra shifts. Managers remember that.
