Seasonal hiring: what is paying well this year?

A retailer and two warehouses near Kansas City are hiring seasonal staff. I have read a lot of threads here and could not find my exact situation. I would like to avoid a gap in my résumé. Which employers treat seasonal workers well?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 3 months ago, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
