Seasonal hiring: what is paying well this year? - 3 months and counting

I am looking at seasonal jobs around Austin that might lead to something longer. I am in Austin, in case local advice matters. I would like to avoid a gap in my résumé. Has anyone been converted to permanent?

I was converted after one season because I showed up every day and volunteered for extra shifts. Managers remember that.
