Public-sector jobs open for Knoxville residents - what worked for you?

The school district in Knoxville is hiring support staff. There are 17 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. Hiring is slower than private jobs. Do they prefer local residents?

It took me about two months from application to offer. Apply early and keep your contact details current.

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 2 months ago, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
