Public-sector jobs open for Kansas City residents - any advice?

The city and county near Kansas City both posted administrative and maintenance openings this week. I do not usually post, so bear with me. Hiring is slower than private jobs. How long did it take to hear back?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 14 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
