Public-sector jobs open for Jacksonville residents - any advice?

The city and county near Jacksonville both posted administrative and maintenance openings this week. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. Applications close on a fixed date and need a full work history.

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 12 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
