Public-sector jobs open for Austin residents - what worked for you?

The school district in Austin is hiring support staff. I am in Austin, in case local advice matters. Hiring is slower than private jobs. Anyone applied for one?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
