Part-time jobs that fit around childcare - what worked for you?

A grocery chain and a hotel near Detroit are hiring part-time staff. I am in Detroit, in case local advice matters. Shifts are four to six hours and the pay is weekly. How many hours do they guarantee?

Check how they treat part-time staff for benefits. Some add them after a set number of hours.

Ask whether the schedule is posted in advance and how they handle swaps. It matters a lot with kids.
