Part-time jobs that fit around childcare (update)

A grocery chain and a hotel near Chicago are hiring part-time staff. Shifts are four to six hours and the pay is weekly. Is the schedule really fixed?

I got the job by going in around mid-morning and asking for the manager. Worth a try.

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 13 months ago, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
