Part-time jobs that fit around childcare

A grocery chain and a hotel near St. Louis are hiring part-time staff. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. They can give a schedule two weeks ahead. Is the schedule really fixed?

I got the job by going in around mid-morning and asking for the manager. Worth a try.
