Part-time jobs that fit around childcare - any advice?

A grocery chain and a hotel near Birmingham are hiring part-time staff. I have been trying to stay organised about it. Shifts are four to six hours and the pay is weekly. How many hours do they guarantee?

I got the job by going in around mid-morning and asking for the manager. Worth a try.
