Part-time jobs that fit around childcare - any advice?

A grocery chain and a hotel near Tucson are hiring part-time staff. I am in Tucson, in case local advice matters. Some roles have a small tuition benefit. Is the schedule really fixed?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.

I worked evenings at a hotel. The hours were steady and the team was friendly, but weekends were busy.
