Part-time jobs that fit around childcare - any advice?

A grocery chain and a hotel near Raleigh are hiring part-time staff. I have been trying to stay organised about it. Some roles have a small tuition benefit. Is the schedule really fixed?

Ask whether the schedule is posted in advance and how they handle swaps. It matters a lot with kids.
