Jobs at small San Diego companies nobody posts about - 14 weeks in

Two small San Diego employers told me they are hiring but have not posted yet. There are 14 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. They like a brief email with a résumé. What do you write in a cold email?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
